Social Worker
Title: Social Worker (Dutchess County Family Education Program)
Status: Non-Exempt, 40-hours per week
Salary: $28.09 per hour, plus on call stipend
Reports to: Program Coordinator
FUNCTION:
The Social Worker provides high-quality, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed services to their caseload of families and children in the Dutchess County Family Education Program (DC FEP). The Social Worker works in close collaboration with the Case Manager to provide families referred by the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services with in-home parenting skills, safety assessments, case management support, referrals, resources and on call- support to achieve
goals of safety and reduce risk of out-of-home placement. The Social Worker should enthusiastically support, practice, and communicate the agency’s mission and statement of values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field with two years relevant experience in providing social services.
- Home-based programming experience preferred.
- CASAC credential and/or advanced coursework in social work or equivalent is a plus.
- Good communication and counseling skills.
- Knowledge of community and public agencies.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-stress environment

- ·Ability to frequently and efficiently travel to client homes and community meetings.
- Participate in the DC FEP on call rotation to ensure active clients have support 24/7.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides Mandated Preventive Services to families referred by the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services in order to reduce risk of future incidences of child abuse and neglect and maintain child safety.
- Maintains a caseload of 12 to 15 families and provides in-home services ranging from twice per month to twice per week depending on the level of need per case.
- Supports families on their caseload with understanding family court orders and completing service plans as part of their compliance with expectations of the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services.
- Develop, assess and co-construct Family Assessment Service Plans in collaboration with community partners and families.
- Obtain and maintain Family Check-Up, Motivational Interviewing, and Safe Care training and certification (training will be provided) in order to implement evidenced based parent skills training efficiently and effectively.
- Implement support groups related to parenting, trauma or other identified needs, as needed.
- Assist families with connecting to community resources that can benefit their families, such as support groups, extracurricular activities, daycare, charities, and other resources as needed.
- Provide 24/7 support to families working with the Family Education Program as part of on-call rotation (stipend provided).
- Assess child safety and risk, and effectively communicate with supervisors within DC FEP, and DCFS if needed, in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other departments and community partners to provide a comprehensive array of services to families and children.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records (including completion of case notes within 72 hours of service provision) and ensure that all documentation is complete and in compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Participate actively in weekly team meetings as well as individual supervision.
- Provide written case reviews and court reports as requested and as needed.
- Provides services to families with cultural humility to help reduce the disparity in the child welfare system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Community/Partner Liaison
- As a representative of the Agency, shares our values, knowledge, and skills with other organizations, community groups, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Participate in program outreach to the community and expand service reach by researching community organizations and providing community outreach through presentations.

Work Environment – The Social Worker will primarily work from the office setting, located at 29 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie, in the community, and travel to offsite home visits and meetings.
